This was definitely a big one for Austin rap. Bavu had already been around for a minute, leading the weekly Hip Hop Humpday proceedings on 6th Street and such. For "Play the Role", which was released in 2003, Bavu teamed with Hydroponic Soundsystem out of Dallas and next thing you know, the song could be heard regularly on local radio.
